Mother chokes 2-month-old daughter because she wanted some peace and quiet
A mother was arrested on a charge of attempted murder after trying to kill her daughter because she wanted some peace and quiet in her home, according to police in Polokwane.
Police said that they have arrested 36-year-old Lerato Ntanzi, after being accused of choking her 2-month-old daughter until she fell unconscious.
Ntanzi was charged with one count of attempted murder.
According to the police investigation, the incident unfolded on Tuesday around 11:00 a.m., at the woman’s apartment while her husband was at work.
Ntanzi told investigators that her baby kept crying and she refused to calm down. She then decided to choke her daughter until she passed out because she wanted some peace and quiet.
Police officers who arrived at the scene, found the girl unconscious but alive. She was taken to a nearby hospital, where she is said to be in serious condition.
