It’s been ages since they last appeared on Muvhango screens and many people have been wondering , what’s going on!
But now the cat is out of the bag, arguably the most loved couple on Muvhango, Thandaza Buthelezi and Ranthumeng Mokoena have been kicked out of the soapie and quietly of course to avoid a riot from fans and followers of the show.
A mole at Word of Mouth Productions told us that the two actors who play the roles of the couple, Sindi Dlathu(Thandaza) and Brian Temba(Ranthumeng) had become big-headed, demanding unrealistic pay rises and very relaxed working conditions.
Another source, who works behind the scenes at Muvhango’s production house said part of the ‘unrealistic’ demand the pair made included a 7 percent salary increase, a chauffeur service to pick them up and drop them off every day for shooting and Thandaza is said to have requested a white masseur with blue eyes and a six pack!
Reports are that the two actors bragged that they were there ones who pulled viewers to the show, hence they felt they must be rewarded more! We are further told they were supported in their claims by the ‘terrible twins’ Gabriel Temudzani (Azwindini) and Macdonald Ndou(KK). Indications however are that the terrible twins later changed their minds after various protracted negotiations with their employer.
But Sindi and Brian held their ground and the negotiations were fruitless. Muvhango’s producer, Morishe Matlejoane and Tessa Made, the creative director, tried hook and crook to get the actors to at least work while their demands were being looked into but the actors would not be pushed. Management reportedly lost it and the situation became acrimonious when the two who thought they were invincible, threatened to influence other actors to join their industrial action.
The beloved couple are said to have broken Duma Ndlovu’s heart. He personally groomed and nurtured the two and he is said to be inconsolable. Management is said to have called in the SABC but still the negotiations yielded nothing.
SABC COO, Mr. Hlaudi Motsoeneng finally pulled the plug and advised Word of Mouth to go the Generations route and fire the two regardless of the cost! Generations lost 16 of its top actors but still managed to make a comeback and sit on number two!
Efforts to get a comment from Sindi and Brian were futile at the time of writing this satire piece, while Word of Mouth refused to give us an official comment.
