Kaizer Chiefs Celebrate 56 Years of Football Glory
South Africa’s most decorated football club, Kaizer Chiefs, is celebrating its 56th anniversary today, marking more than five decades of dominance, passion and cultural influence in African football.
Fondly known as Amakhosi, the Soweto-based giants have grown into one of the most recognisable football brands on the continent.

From Humble Beginnings to Football Royalty
Kaizer Chiefs were founded on 7 January 1970 by club chairman and football icon Kaizer Motaung following his return from the United States, where he played for Atlanta Chiefs. What began as a fledgling team quickly evolved into a powerhouse that reshaped South African football.
Over the years, the club has built a rich tradition anchored in skill, flair and an unwavering connection with its supporters.
