High-Flying Heroics: Home Affairs Minister Aaron Motsoaledi Saves Unwell Passenger mid-Air

Dr Aaron Motsoaledi, renowned as the Minister of Home Affairs to most South Africans, transcends this role.

Beyond his ministerial duties, Motsoaledi is a seasoned medical doctor who recently exemplified his commitment to the Hippocratic oath.

SA Hails Aaron Motsoaledi As He Saves Passenger on Flight

Former Gauteng provincial legislator Ndzipho Kalipa expressed heartfelt gratitude to Dr Motsoaledi on the popular digital platform X, commonly known as Twitter.

On X, Kalipa openly extended his thanks to Motsoaledi for his swift action in aiding a passenger who fainted on a flight from East London to Johannesburg due to critically low blood sugar levels.

The passenger, in his early forties, lost consciousness as his blood sugar plummeted perilously.

Fortuitously, Motsoaledi, holder of a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery degree from the University of Natal, happened to be one of the 158 travellers aboard flight FA249.

“On behalf all passengers that were on board a Flysafair flight from East London to Joburg earlier this evening. We salute a selfless and heroic intervention by minister Dr Aron Motsoaledi who attended a sick passenger on the flight. Thank you Minister for your selflessness!!,”  Kalipa hailed Motsoaledi.

The South African social media landscape buzzed with praises for Dr Aaron Motsoaledi’s heroism.

Minister Discloses How He Rescued Passenger

Dr Aaron Motsoaledi recounted the life-saving episode to News24, disclosing the method he employed.

“In my clinical judgment, he had low blood sugar. They [the crew and his pharmacist wife] were struggling to give him a mixture as a sugar solution and I said he won’t be able to drink it, so I took a glucose powder and rubbed it on his gums and tongue. He absorbed the powder through this method,” he disclosed to News24.
