The actress, who has lived in the property since 2015, defaulted on her mortgage payments following a loss of income in 2021. Mkhize claims she originally bought the house for R1.2 million and had been keeping up with her payments until financial difficulties arose, leaving her R200,000 in arrears.

The house was sold to businessman Dzivhu Mashile for R701,000, and Mkhize is now facing eviction.

A viral video circulating on social media shows a distraught Mkhize pleading with the public for help. In the video, she details her struggles and describes a situation where contractors working for the new owner began refurbishing the house while she was still living there. Mkhize claims that a bedroom window was changed while she was inside, leaving her feeling unsafe and harassed.

Despite the sale, Mkhize is refusing to vacate the home, vowing to remain until a court issues an eviction order. She told TimesLIVE:

“I will move out when the court tells me to move out. I need to go to court and present my case and then if the ruling says I should move out, I will. If the court doesn’t say I should leave, I won’t leave.

Opportunities Dry Out For The Former Isibaya Star

Mkhize’s situation is compounded by her struggle to find steady work in the South African TV and film industry. She has been vocal about the lack of opportunities, revealing she has not worked in months.

In her social media video, she tearfully asks for assistance from the public as her living conditions worsen, with broken doors and compromised safety for her and her children:

“I lay awake, asking myself what can happen in the middle of the night when my home is like this because anyone can just step inside and do as they please. I need your help, people of South Africa. Anyone who can help is welcome,” she says in the video.
