Makgotso M, a prominent figure in the acting world, recently revealed the hurdles she faced as a budding talent in the entertainment realm and how difficult it is to land a gig.

In an exclusive interview with Sowetan, the actress shed light on the difficulties encountered following her portrayal of Tishiwe in the renowned series Is’thunzi.
“Following the completion of Is’thunzi, I encountered significant challenges in securing further acting opportunities. Despite anticipating interest from production companies, I found myself grappling with a lack of offers,” shared Makgotso.
Her journey was not without its setbacks. Some of her co-stars on Isithunzi like her friend Thuso Mbedu got their big break after the South African drama series and even went international. Makgotso did not feel the same as no jobs were coming her way. Feeling disheartened by the industry’s response, she made the difficult decision to relocate to England, seeking solace and perhaps new opportunities.

However, her story took a turn when she ventured to the United States, where her agent provided invaluable support and encouragement.
Reinvigorated by this newfound confidence, Makgotso M embarked on a journey that would ultimately lead to her latest achievement. Moving from South Africa has caused her to finally land a role in another production.

Amidst the trials and tribulations, Makgotso M has emerged triumphant, securing a significant role in the upcoming movie, The Drop.
Her portrayal of Trisca, a trauma counsellor, promises to captivate audiences with its depth and authenticity.
“I am thrilled to take on this role, as it presents a refreshing challenge and promises to be an immensely enjoyable experience,” expressed Makgotso M.
