Twitter Drama Alert: AKA’s Mom, Lynn Forbes, Entangled in a Heated Fight Over Granddaughter Kairo Joburg Day Performance
AKA’s mom, Lynn Forbes, has been caught up in a nasty fight on Twitter over her granddaughter Kairo Forbes.
Kairo Forbes Performs Sings And Cries At The Joburg Day Festival
On 3 September 2023, Kairo Forbes joined the stage at the Galaxy 947 Joburg Day. K.O, Khuli Chana, Yanga Chief, Thato Saul, Da L.E.S., and The Mega Band paid tribute to her late dad, AKA, who was shot dead in February 2023.
Kairo got the mic and sang along to Company before bursting into tears in front of her grandparents and the thousands who thronged the festival.
The moment broke DJ Zinhle, who later posted on Instagram:
“After bravely performing her dad’s song in front of thousands of people, my 8-year-old broke down crying saying she just misses her daddy & wishes he was here.”
Controversy And Accusations Online
Not everyone found the moment as touching. Some accused the Forbes family of exploiting and capitalising on AKA’s memory for attention and profit.

Yesterday, some AKA staunch stans on Twitter disagreed over the Kairo Forbes performance. Some said Kairo is too young to be exposed to that publicity, while others said she just performed her dad’s songs.
AKA’s mom, Lynn Forbes, felt compelled to chip into the fight and explained spiritedly:
“Kairo didn’t say, “I WANT to perform at Joburg Day,” She said, “I’m GOING TO perform at Joburg Day. I don’t want anyone to go on stage with me. I’m going to sing my daddy’s voice by myself.” It sat well with her. She cried. She is very proud of herself. No one forced her.
“Also, Kairo chose her own outfit for the Metro Awards … she loved the look 😍and she doesn’t care what we think 👌🏽”
Moments later, Lynn Forbes posted on Twitter, but acting as if Kairo was the one expressing herself:
“A normal childhood? My mom is a whole DJ Zinhle, and my dad is the SupaMega🙄. It’s enough now Glammy. Go back to I.G. 🙈✌🏽”
