Al Ahly Coach Pitso Mosimane Tested Positive For Coronavirus
Egypt’s Al Ahly has confirmed that SA coach Pitso Mosimane has tested positive for Covid-19.
In a statement issued by the club on Wednesday, the team commented on the situation:
“Al Ahly’s head coach Pitso Mosimane tested positive for COVID-19. Mosimane will follow the Ministry of Health’s protocol for COVID-19 and will be self-isolated at home.”
The 56-year-old coach managed to end Ahly’s 7-year wait for the CAF Champions League and led the team to victory just a few short months after joining their ranks.
Mosimane joined the team in September shortly after leading the Mamelodi Sundowns to victory at home. Mosimane is now one of the elite few to win two CAF Champions League trophies, the first title for the Egyptian team in 7 years.
Pitso Mosimane is the latest person in South Africa’s football world to share a tribute for the late Mamelodi Sundowns player, Motjeka Madisha, who died on Saturday this weekend in a fatal car accident.
Mosimane, who is the former Mamelodi Sundowns coach, headed to his Twitter page and shared a picture of the Sundowns defender Madisha standing face-to-face with another footballer during what looks like a very intense match.
The captionless post quickly garnered thousands of likes and reactions from Mosimane’s followers and football lovers. Many of them headed to the comment section to share messages of support and encouragement with Mosimane and the Madisha family.
