After their separation, Annie Mthembu’s husband, Kgolo has faced a series of unfortunate events that have left him financially strained. The entrepreneur, who once enjoyed a lavish lifestyle, has reportedly lost everything—his businesses, home, car, and steady income. In a bid to survive, Kgolo has turned to selling his remaining possessions, including furniture, carpets, and home appliances, on Facebook Marketplace.

Kgolo’s decision to sell his belongings comes as no surprise to those close to him. A friend revealed to ZiMoja that the businessman has been struggling to afford storage for his items and no longer needs them since relocating to his family home in Soweto, Johannesburg.
“Storage costs are high, and he’s trying to simplify his life for now,” the friend explained. “He’s taking a step back to regroup and rebuild. It’s a tough phase, but he’s determined to bounce back.”
This move marks a significant downgrade for Kgolo, who was once a prominent figure in Durban’s nightlife scene. His relocation to Soweto earlier this year is seen as a temporary measure while he works on stabilizing his finances and planning his next steps.

The Fall of Viewz Urban Grill and Rooftop
Kgolo’s financial troubles began to surface after the closure of his popular nightclub, Viewz Urban Grill and Rooftop, in Durban. The establishment, which was once a hotspot for locals and tourists alike, faced numerous challenges, including unpaid staff salaries.
According to a former employee, the club’s financial issues started when money was allegedly stolen from the business.
“We went months without pay,” the employee shared. “At first, we tried to be understanding, but it became unsustainable. We had bills to pay and families to support, so many of us had to leave and find other work.”
Eventually, Kgolo sold the nightclub to Bongani “DJ Bongz” Dlamini. The former employee expressed sadness over the situation, stating,
“Kgolo was a good person, but he was taken advantage of. It’s unfortunate to see how things turned out.”

Despite the setbacks, Kgolo remains optimistic about his future. Friends and close associates describe him as resilient and determined to rebuild his life. Selling his furniture and other household items is just one step in his journey to financial recovery.
“He’s not giving up,” a source close to Kgolo said. “This is just a temporary phase. He’s focused on getting back on his feet and creating a better future for himself.”
