Anti-Kidnapping Task Team Guns Down Three Kidnappers Linked to Businessman Abduction Attempts
Three kidnappers were shot and killed during a confrontation with Gauteng police in Parktown, Johannesburg, on Friday.
National police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe said the suspects are believed to be part of a criminal group responsible for kidnapping a Chinese national in June 2025.
She added that just last week, the same group allegedly attempted to abduct another businessman in Gauteng.

Intercepted En Route to Commit a Robbery
The suspects were reportedly on their way to carry out a robbery when members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) anti-kidnapping task team intercepted them.
During the intelligence-led operation, a shootout ensued, resulting in all three suspects sustaining fatal injuries. No police officers were reported injured.
Major General on the Scene
Major General Fred Kekana is currently overseeing operations at the scene as investigations continue.
Authorities are expected to release further details once forensic processing is complete and the suspects’ identities are confirmed.

The fact that they were driving a white Audi gives me so kind of peace 🥺 I was hijacked & kidnapped by guys who drove the same car (thankfully I was never harmed). Yes it might very well not be the same guys but somehow it still gives me some peace.
