The videos, sent by the girlfriend during their relationship, were intended to be private and have now been viewed by thousands, causing significant distress to the victim.

Earlier this week, he secretly contacted one notorious WhatsApp channel and sent them the video to punish his former flame. The channel’s administrator shared a screenshot of the video of the woman while enjoying herself in private.

The channel’s administrator deleted the video to avoid a WhatsApp ban, as the platform frowns upon invasion of privacy.

People close to the lady nudged her, and she saw the internet was awash with a video she recorded behind closed doors for one man.

The Risk Of Arrest

Under Malawi law, it is a criminal offence to leak a person’s private images or videos. Years back, one man was arrested for dropping one woman’s videos online.

A Malawian court ordered him to pay a R2600 fine after he attempted to extort the lady. When she failed to pay the amount, he leaked her videos online.

Initially, Malawi’s laws did not specifically make leaking private videos a punishable offence. Legislators corrected this after the trend became rampant.

In one classic case, a female police officer was suspended on half pay after a fellow officer she had shared her videos and leaked them online. The incident caused an uproar online.
