Babes Wodumo’s mother-in-law Zamanguni Gumede-Zuma never liked her, and she accused the Gqom Queen of carrying a sponge on her tummy to pretend she was pregnant.

After giving birth, the Wololo hitmaker nicknamed her son “Sponge” because of Mampintsha’s mother’s previous accusations. After giving birth, Babes spent many months without showing her baby’s face to the public.

It was not until recently that she revealed the baby through his own Instagram account, which has since garnered 60,300 followers.

On the latest episode of her reality show Uthando Lodumo which streamed on 3 November, Babes Wodumo and Mampintsha celebrated their son’s first birthday.

She delved deep into why she always hid her baby’s face from the public domain.

Babes Wodumo clarified:

“He’s turning one. I am elated because Sponge barely interacts with people. He’s always hidden, as you know. Today is a big day. A lot of people don’t know this, but as a new mom, I really don’t want my baby to be seen or touched. Some people perform strange rituals, and I don’t want my baby exposed to such.

“I don’t even want him to be photographed because other children actually die. Because you find that your husband’s girlfriend has used their picture to cast evil spells. So, this is the first time that my baby gets to interact with other people. Because he’s always at home with a limited number of people.”
