Banyana Banyana Ready For Cosafa Semi Final

South Africa’s senior women football team, Banyana Banyana’s head coach, Desiree Ellis, has said they are ready for their Cosafa semifinal encounter against Malawi tomorrow afternoon.

Banyana Banyana has had a sterling start of its 2020 Cosafa Women’s Championship campaign as evidenced by their overall 14 goals that they have since netted without conceding any.

As the hours draw near to their do or die match, Ellis has remained cautious of Malawi but has since said that they are ready for the litmus test.

“We have been scoring goals but we need to be better there is always room for improvement. We are not really where we want to be but we are getting there. For Cosafa tournaments, we always use local-based players so as to give them the opportunity, so it’s a fantastic opportunity for players so we are looking at players that add such quality and value to the squad, we keep reminding the players that let’s just play for the fans they are not here but they are watching it on TV.

Moreover, we have two quality goalkeepers and we have given an opportunity to everyone who has raised their hands and am really proud of this team. Against Malawi we need to make sure we rotate the ball, we just need to execute our plan really well, they will obviously come with their guns blazing but we just have to be ready for them,” said Ellis.

Banyana Banyana will now be looking forward to securing their 4th consecutive and 7th Cosafa title making them the football powerhouse of the region at the same time prior to Banyana Banyana’s match, Zambia who is also a formidable force will be looking forward to basking in the Cosafa glory when they take on Botswana at 12h00pm in another semifinal encounter.
