BBC Blueticks Man Mistakenly Interviewed In Viral 2006 Video As He Threatens To Sue

BBC remained mum after a man they mistakenly interviewed in 2006 is threatening to file a lawsuit against them.

The live-TV mix up happened 17 years ago when Guy Goma went to the BBC for an job interview, and ended up in front of the camera for a television interview he wasn’t expecting.

The BBC was to interview IT expert Guy Kewney, and Goma appeared before the producers directed him into the studio to discuss the IT expertise he never had.

Equally buffled, the mistaken man got into the chair as his face showed suppressed confusion, and discussed about music on the Internet.

 

Man Mistakenly Interviewed By The BBC Now Wants To Sue Them

The video has been entertaining viewers on YouTube for the past 17 years and Guy Goma reckons he deserves a chunk of the royalties from the video.

He told Accidental Celebrities podcast that he reached out to the BBC and they blueticked him, despite being the main character in the hilarious drama:

I contacted them. They didn’t answer me,” Goma said.

He that he is ready to sue:

“I am going to go because of the money they made from it. They didn’t give me a single penny. They have been using it for nearly 20 years with no penny to me. When I see that they are paying people millions here and there, that clip made them richer.”

Plans For The Future

Goma is now 54 and works at a charity catering for people with learning disabilities. He hopes to publish a book titled” Wrong Guy,” leveraging on the famous video.
