Bonko was born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa. From a young age, he had a keen interest in acting and the arts. He pursued his passion by attending the National School of Arts in Johannesburg, where he focused on Fine Arts and graduated in 2009. Following his graduation, he studied advertising and design for two years before enrolling in a two-year Performance and Theatre Skills program at The Market Theatre Laboratory.
Acting Career
He embarked on his acting career in 2015 with his role as Jabz in the film “Necktie Youth,” directed by Sibs Shongwe-La Mer. The film received critical acclaim and was nominated for various awards, including the Best First Feature Award at the Berlin International Film Festival. Bonko’s performance in the film earned him a Best Actor Nomination at the Tribeca Film Festival.Since his debut, Bonko has appeared in several films and series in South Africa and internationally.
