Brazilian National Nabbed with R1.4 Million Worth of Cocaine at OR Tambo Airport

A Brazilian drug trafficker was arrested on Thursday at OR Tambo International Airport after attempting to smuggle cocaine worth R1.4 million into South Africa.

According to law enforcement officials, the suspect had arrived from São Paulo and was intercepted during a routine customs inspection.

Officers discovered the illicit drugs tightly strapped around the man’s legs in what appeared to be a brazen attempt to evade detection.

The man was stopped and searched after disembarking. Upon inspection, cocaine with an estimated street value of R1.4 million was found wrapped around his legs,” a spokesperson said.
