Actress Sindi Khambule, who is said to be homeless now, has shared her story in a video that a fan shared on social media.
At one point in her career, Sindi Khambule, known for her roles in popular South African TV dramas like Zone 14, Tsotsi, and Yizo Yizo, enjoyed fame and financial success. The actress, who once dated the late legendary singer Brenda Fassie, reportedly earned as much as R52,000 within two weeks of work. Despite living in luxury with cars, apartments, and a thriving career, Khambule now says she was never truly happy.
Tragedy Strikes: A Family Torn Apart
Khambule shared her heartbreaking story in a candid video recorded by a fan who spotted her in Yeoville, Johannesburg, earlier this week. The 51-year-old actress appeared to be a shadow of her former self, looking disoriented and unkempt. Despite her condition, she allowed herself to be filmed and shared her story openly.
In the video, Khambule revealed, “I had everything at 22 — cars, apartments, businesses — but I was not happy. They killed my family because of my money. I was earning R52,000 in two weeks, and I prayed to God to take it all because I wanted to live like everyone else. God answered, and I lost everything.”
When asked if she needed help, Khambule responded that she did not seek assistance, suggesting that her current life was part of her spiritual journey.

Brenda Fassie and the Rise to Fame
Brenda Fassie, a music icon known for her vibrant personality and trailblazing career, introduced Khambule to the South African media and entertainment industry. The two attended the Kora Awards at Sun City in the early 2000s, where Fassie publicly introduced Khambule as her partner during a high-profile album launch event.
While Khambule gained attention from the media, she also found herself in conflict with her family back in Pietermaritzburg. Despite these challenges, she secured several acting roles, eventually moving from Berea to Midrand to continue her acting career. Her last acting role was an unreleased project featuring controversial Afro-Pop singer Kelly Khumalo and actress Khanyi Mbau.
Struggles in Recent Years
According to sources close to Khambule, she has been struggling with homelessness and attempting to seek help from former acquaintances in Berea, Johannesburg. One individual who has known her for over 20 years shared that her last attempt at acting was in the project produced by Chicco Twala, though it has yet to be released. Reportedly, Khambule had conflicts over payment demands before the project’s completion.
