British-Zimbabwean “The Voice UK Winner” Takes AKA’s Hit Song International

The Voice UK star Donel Mangena is taking AKA’s latest single Lemons (Lemonade) featuring Nasty C international after hopping onto the song with a verse of his own.

Donel hopped onto Lemons (Lemonade) and posted a video of his version of the song on his TikTok account.

A fan of the Supamega brought the video to AKA’s attention and the Lemons (Lemonade) singer retweeted it. The tweet read:

@akaworldwide and Nasty C lemons now spreading in the UK 🇬🇧🍋 Donel’s parents are from Zimbabwe but living in the UK, @officialdonel was mentored by @iamwill from black-eyed peas in @thevoiceuk. Thank you 😊 Donel #Lemons2Lemonade 🍋🍋

Mangena gives the song an Afropop feel to it and interpolates Nasty C’s lyrics in the process. Some of the lyrics to her verse read:

She say she like the way I do it

Lemonade, I’m sipping on her melanin

Feeling great, better than I ever did

Michael Jackson shawty hit me with that the Billie Jean

When I made her gag I was going for her tonsils

When I made her dab I told ’em I’m an apostle

[….]

Buy her anything she want she’s such a diva

Yelele yelele

Meanwhile, Lemons (Lemonade) is the comeback that AKA needed ahead of the release of his album Mass Country. In less than three months, the song has garnered millions of views, topped the music charts and it’s gone platinum with massive sales.

Last Wednesday, AKA and his team celebrated the song going platinum as well as the success of his partnership with Cruz Vodka. AKA revealed that he’s sold over 1.2 million bottles of the Cruz vodka varieties.
