A cash-in-transit heist in Rustenburg took a tragic turn after a group of armed suspects ambushed a Fidelity cash van using explosives.
The incident occurred earlier today near a local butchery, where the attackers targeted the vehicle in broad daylight.
According to authorities, the suspects managed to grab an undisclosed amount of cash before security guards returned fire, triggering a violent shootout.
Video Shows Suspect Firing Before Shooting Himself
A widely circulated video shows one of the suspects, who had been shot in the leg during the exchange of gunfire, stumbling to the ground. Despite his injuries, he continued firing at the cash van before turning the gun on himself.
Emergency services confirmed that he died at the scene.
