Cassper Nyovest Mourns Cal Vin ‘That Luveve Boy’

South African rapper, Cassper Nyovest has joined hands with  Zimbabweans in mourning the death of musician Cal Vin, real name Mgcini Calvin Nhliziyo who passed on Sunday morning.

The Zikhupan hit-maker, 35, died after he was involved in a hit and run car accident near his home in Luveve 5 Bulawayo. The sad untimely death of Cal Vin has left Zimbabweans at large shattered.

Cassper Nyovest, real name Refiloe Maele Phoolo,  took to Twitter to pay his condolences to Cal Vin.  He said Zimbabwe has been robbed of a talented and passionate artist.

Cal Vin was approached by  Cassper Nyovest in 2015 and together they did a remix of  Cal Vin’s song Zikhupan’. Cassper Nyovest gave Cal Vin’s career a much-needed boost after remixing his popular Zikhupan’ track,  a move that put Cal Vin on the spotlight not only locally but regionally.

The song,  became a  chart-topper, resulting in Cal Vin also winning the Song of the year award at the Zimbabwe Hip Hop Awards that same year.

Meanwhile, social media is abuzz with condolence messages for the talented artiste who will be remembered for putting Bulawayo music on the map.

Other Zim  Hip Hop artists are also devasted by the sudden death of Cal Vin.  Rapper, Ti Gonzi said the local music industry had been robbed of good music that the two were planning on working on.

“Cal Vin come on. This is not what we talked about at the Zima awards. We still needed to do this for Zim hip hop man. Rest in peace champ!!” wrote Ti Gonzi on his Instagram page.

Stunner and Cal Vin were well-known in the music industry for always dissing each other through freestyles. Posting on his Instagram page following the death of Cal Vin, Stunner said he was honored to have known and worked with Cal Vin.
