Cassper Nyovest is offering a R50 000 reward for the return of a gold chain lost while crowd surfing during a performance in Durban at the weekend.

The rapper had been performing his final song, in what was the last act at the Durban Hip Hop Festival, early on Sunday when he got swept away in the excitement.

Nyovest, real name Refiloe Maele Phoolo, said on his Facebook page: “Durban has been so dope… I ended up jumping into the crowd for the first time in my life, ’cause I felt the love so much.”

And it seems someone in the audience might have felt the love for Nyovest’s “Keys to the City” chain too, as the item went missing after he was held aloft for a few seconds by the crowd.

Soon after the incident an announcement was made over the public address system, appealing for the return of the chain.

“I would like to give a 50k reward to whoever can bring it back to me,” Nyovest said on Facebook.

The gold Yale-style key with diamonds on a short chain was apparently bought by the artist as a birthday present to himself.
