A property owner, Mr Andiswa Sibanda, has evicted at least 5 tenants at his house in Mpumalanga for supporting EFF.
Some of the tenants, Nosihle Jalazi, Thamsanqa Maranyane and Elizabeth Mokoena,lamented their ordeal and said they have suffered untold hardship from their landlord for not supporting the ANC which the landlord was sympathetic to.
Nosihle said, “We didn’t have any problems, just party differences, he told us he wanted everyone in the house to support ANC, because he is a member of the party, but i refused”.
“I told him that I have been in EFF for a very long time that even if the ANC is buying me a car I prefer to remain in the EFF, and he said since that if that was my position; I should consider myself evicted from his house.”
Also speaking, Thamsanqa said: “I don’t understand why the landlord will just decide to drive us out of his house because we are not supporting ANC. I pay my rent regularly and this is not fair to me. The government should come to our aid because I don’t know when it became a crime to support a party.”
Thamsanqa called on relevant authorities to come to their aid.
Reached for a comment, Mr Sibanda said his house his rules before dismissing our reporter. ” I do as I please on my property. I have no time for you pesky reporters”.
We could not get a comment from the EFF at the time of writing but indications are that the party is organising for the evicted tenants, some bags of cement and money to build their own houses.
