According to reports, the boyfriend, now in police custody, allegedly called the victim’s mother around 8 a.m., admitting to a fight that escalated into violence. The family rushed to his home, where they found the young woman lying partially naked on a mattress, with visible wounds on her head.
In a chilling confession, the boyfriend reportedly told the mother that the victim had revealed she was raped on Christmas Eve. However, he became enraged when her friends could not corroborate her story.
Social Media Erupts in Outrage
The story gained widespread attention after eNCA senior reporter Dasen Thathiah shared the harrowing details on his X (formerly Twitter) account. South Africans reacted with a mix of disbelief and anger. Many expressed shock that he could take her life over his insecurities. Others drew parallels to two other recent cases where men killed their girlfriends before taking their own lives. Some used the moment to urge men to find healthier ways to cope with their emotions rather than resorting to violence. Here are some of the reactions:

So he killed her because she had christmas eve sex with another dude. And then she claimed to have been raped but her friends couldn’t corroborate the story?
