People online are calling for the arrest of a South African woman who married a Pakistani national for R20.
The issue came to light in a viral video from MojaLove’s Fake Marriage show exposing a man named Mr Ali, who is accused of marrying a South African woman, Thabisa, for citizenship purposes. What has added fuel to the fire is the revelation that Ali gave Thabisa just R20 for food after their marriage.
How A South African Woman Sold Her Citizenship To A Pakistani For R20
Sihle Sibisi, an activist and presenter of the show, confronted Mr Ali at his shop, questioning him about his marriage to Thabisa. When asked whether they lived together, Ali admitted that they did not, explaining that he lived with his brother and son while his wife worked elsewhere. Sibisi continued pressing him, asking when he had last seen Thabisa.
Thabisa, who was present during the confrontation, told her so-called husband she wanted a divorce. She expressed frustration, revealing she lived in poverty in a squatter camp while Ali failed to support her financially. She further claimed the marriage was a favour to help Ali gain South African citizenship.

In the video, Ali insisted that he did provide financial support, offering her small amounts of R20 to R50 when asked. However, Thabisa revealed that the last time she saw him was last year when he and his brother demanded she return from the Eastern Cape to sign more documents.
