Ndlovu faces charges of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm after an alleged incident involving his girlfriend over the weekend.

Details of the Alleged Incident

The alleged assault reportedly occurred at Ndlovu’s home in Bryanston on Saturday. According to National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson Phindi Mjonondwane, the complainant stated that an argument broke out after Ndlovu seized her phone and discovered messages between her and one of his friends.

The confrontation escalated, leading to the alleged assault. The victim managed to escape and subsequently reported the matter to the Sandton police. Ndlovu has been in custody since his arrest and is expected to return to court next Thursday for a formal bail application.

Hamilton Ndlovu’s Previous Legal Troubles

This is not the first time Hamilton Ndlovu has faced legal challenges. In 2022, he became entangled in a high-profile legal battle related to personal protective equipment (PPE) procurement contracts. The Special Tribunal declared 19 PPE tenders awarded to Ndlovu and companies linked to him as invalid and unlawful.

The court ruled that Ndlovu and his associated companies must repay R158 million, along with interest, derived from the contracts. Additionally, the tribunal ordered that approximately R42 million in frozen funds and properties be forfeited to the state.

Contempt of Court Ruling

In November 2024, the Special Tribunal found Ndlovu in contempt of a previous court order issued in 2022. The order required Ndlovu to hand over certain forfeited assets to a court-appointed curator. However, Ndlovu failed to comply with the directive, prompting the curator to request that the tribunal declare him in contempt.

As a result, the tribunal sentenced Ndlovu to 30 days in prison. The sentence was suspended for 30 days to allow him a final opportunity to comply with the order. Despite this reprieve, he did not fully surrender all the required assets, putting him back in legal jeopardy.

Hamilton’s Assault case

As the legal process continues, Ndlovu’s current priority is securing bail. His next court appearance is scheduled for next Thursday, where his legal team will present arguments in support of his bail application. The outcome of the bail hearing will determine whether he remains in custody or is released pending the resolution of his case.

The case has garnered significant public and media attention, given Ndlovu’s high-profile status and history of legal troubles. The allegations have raised concerns about issues of domestic violence and accountability among public figures.
