Two men and four women died in a head-on collision on the R38, between Kaapmuiden and Barberton, in Mpumalanga on Thursday night.
“It is believed one of the drivers was overtaking dangerously on a curve and he failed to manoeuvre and this led to [a collision] with another sedan that was travelling in the opposite direction,” Mpumalanga Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison spokesperson Moeti Mmusi said.
“The deceased, two males and four females, died at the scene and they include both drivers,” Mmusi added.
“Three people who were seriously injured were taken to a hospital in Mbombela for medical treatment.”
In a separate incident on Friday, three people, including a child, died when a when a vehicle overturned on the N4 toll road near Emalahleni.
