Danny Jordaan Under Fire as Hawks Raid SAFA House in Fraud Investigation

In a recent development, the Serious Commercial Crime Investigation, commonly known as the Hawks, carried out a raid on Safa House on Friday. The purpose of the raid was to execute search and seizure warrants as part of an ongoing investigation into allegations of fraud and theft involving Danny Jordaan.

The Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation, responsible for the operation, initiated the search and seizure based on claims that Jordaan, the president of the South African Football Association (SAFA), was involved in fraudulent activities amounting to R1.3 million. These alleged incidents transpired between 2014 and 2018.

What the Hawks Collected During SAFA House Raid

The Hawks are currently looking into allegations that Jordaan misappropriated SAFA funds for personal gain. It has been reported that he engaged the services of a private security company and a public relations firm without proper authorization from the SAFA board. These actions are believed to have violated SAFA statutes and resulted in a loss of R1.3 million for the organization.

During the course of the operation, officials from the Hawks confiscated several items as evidence. These items include a laptop, external hard drives, a USB drive, and various documents.

Col Katlego Mogale, the spokesperson for the Hawks, confirmed the raid in a statement released on Friday afternoon. The statement, issued by the South African Police Service, stated,

“The Serious Commercial Crime Investigation executed search seizure warrants this morning, 08 March 2024 at the South African Football Association’s office,” the statement from the South African Police Service confirmed.

The warrants were promoted by allegations of fraud and theft amounting to R1.3 million.

The allegations are that between 2014 and 2018, the president of Safa used the organisation’s resources for his personal gain including hiring a private security company for his personal protection, a Public Relations company without authorisation from the Safa Board.

The president is also reported to have violated Safa statutes thus prejudicing Safa an actual loss of R1.3 million.

During the search, a laptop, external hard drives, a USB and documents were seized.”
