An East London couple’s romantic getaway took a wrong turn after they decided to take a sho’t left.
Newlyweds Vuyo and Nombulelo were spending a night in a B&B in the remote are of Alice when they discovered a dead body under their bed.
“There was this really bad smell in the room and Nombu kept saying we should change rooms” Vuyo recounted.
“It’s a small place so Vuyo was worried that we might not get another room and I wasn’t prepared to spend the night on the road” Nombulelo said in a statement.
After contacting the guest house house they decided to come and take a look thinking it could be a dead rat that had wondered into the room. That’s when a thorough sweep under the bed resulted in them finding a dead human body. They immediately called SAPS who tagged it as a crime scene.
“What’s shocking is the the fact that we don’t recall a woman booking that room prior to this couple. A man came alone and didn’t even spend the night” a distraught Ilze Coetzee who is the owner of the guesthouse said.
The police have decided to open a murder investigation as they believe the dead woman was the victim of a murder.
The police spokesperson Mr Reginald Ndlela gave the following statement to the press ” For now we have no leads as to who the murder victim is as she had no form of identification on her and the perpetrator is a 5ft 9 colored man called Sean Du Plessis so we’re on the lookout for a man matching his description. We will need a sketch artist in order to help the public narrow down the criminal”
They believe this is a case of human trafficking and or a robbery. “The victim could have struggled with the perpetrator which resulted in her death and he shoved her in the boot but he panicked and decided to dump her in the guest house before he got caught in case there was a roadblock” one police detective added.
Nombulelo and Vuyo have been compensated but they are now star witnesses to a murder case.
