“Dingiswayo” Thembinkosi Mthembu From Shaka Ilembe Reveals How His Girlfriend Deals With His Tlof Tlof Scenes On TV
Actor Thembinkosi Mthembu, who plays the role of Dingiswayo in Shaka Ilembe, has revealed how his girlfriend deals with his tlof tlof scenes on TV.
The 29-year-old has been blazing trails in 2023. He rocked on Showmax’s Adulting as the successful alpha male Bonga, the unofficial head of his boys’ group.

Thembinkosi Mthembu As Dingiswayo In Shaka Ilembe
In May 2023, his familiar The River face graced Mzansi Magic’s Shaka Ilembe as Dingiswayo. Mzansi Magic explains that the character fled into exile before his comeback and ascendancy to the Mthethwa throne.
Dingiswayo was an inspirational leader, distinguished fighter and strategist who was instrumental in moulding Shaka (played by Lemogang Tsipa).

Thembinkosi Mthembu revealed to TimesLIVE how he altered his life to portray Dingiswayo in Shaka Ilembe perfectly.

He left his girlfriend and family and deleted his social media to remove all the noise.
“Shaka was the first project I went full-on. This character is close to my heart. I fell in love with this character. I enjoyed it. I’m grateful we’re shooting season 2 soon,” he reflected.
The actor delved into his brawl with Zwide (Wiseman Mncube):
“It was so real to the point where we fought, I hurt on my back. When he punched me, I fell on my back. I wasn’t supposed to fall, but I was selling that punch because I felt like he was feeling it, so I jumped and fell on my back and had pain for about three weeks.”

Thembinkosi takes his work seriously and goes all in for all roles he is cast. He told TimesLIVE he went on dates with co-star Londeka Sishi before filming Adulting.

Ideally, this would have complicated his relationship with his girlfriend:
“For me and her to build chemistry, we had to go on dates because it would read on camera. My partner knew about the dates but doesn’t watch my int_macy scenes. She’s OK because we started dating when I was doing my third year at DUT, so she knew me from university.”
