Early Life of DJ Euphonik

Euphonik was born on December 6, 1983, in Mpumalanga, South Africa, and spent his formative years in Likazi before relocating to Klerksdorp and later to Benoni.

Euphonik’s Musical Journey

Euphonik’s passion for music was ignited in his youth when he was exposed to his father’s eclectic music collection, which included international legends like The Spinners, Marvin Gaye, Hugh Masekela, and local talents like Stimela. During his late teenage years, Themba delved into DJing and quickly made a name for himself in the club music scene. His music eventually gained airplay, starting at the regional radio station YFM.

In 2004, a pivotal moment in Euphonik’s career came when he collaborated with DJ Kent to produce the album titled “Kentphonik.” Simultaneously, he embarked on a successful radio career at YFM, showcasing his mixing skills on various radio shows. In 2006, he inked a record deal with Soul Candi.

Radio Career

Euphonik’s career continued to ascend as he earned the opportunity to host his own shows on 5FM. He hosted the Saturday show “Ultimix Weekend Edition,” featuring fresh music and mixes from South African and international DJs. This show was an extension of the popular 5FM show, “The Ultimix @6.”

In 2009, Euphonik co-founded the band F.Eu. with his friend DJ Fresh. The band has since released four albums and frequently performs at international events, including the South African Miami Invasion and Ultra Fest Miami.

DJ Themba Alias

In 2017, Euphonik adopted the alias DJ Themba under which he has shared stages with renowned DJs such as Skrillex, Tiesto, Swedish House Mafia, Avicii, and Black Coffee. His performances have earned him numerous awards, and he’s produced several acclaimed House Music hits and albums.

Polygamous Marriages

Euphonik’s personal life has garnered attention due to his polygamous relationships. He is married to two different women, Aurelia Nxumalo and Kholeka Qiniso. DJ Euphonik’s wives were once spotted partying together on World Champagne Day in 2020. Rumour has it that he even has plans to bless himself with a third wife.

Rape Allegations

In January 2021, Euphonik and DJ Fresh were accused of rape by a woman on Twitter. The woman alleged that she was drugged and raped by the two individuals more than 10 years ago. She challenged Dj Euphonik and Dj Fresh to accept and take responsibility for her ordeal by publicly shaming them on Twitter.

“@Nampree @DJFreshSA & @euphonik will you ever acknowledge drugging me and further raping me? I was completely drugged and don’t know if you both raped me or if one of you did. You later laughed about it the next morning saying we (me and 3 girls) were so drunk we kept blacking out but nasidlwengula [you raped us],” read the tweet.

DJ Fresh and Euphonik parted ways with Radio 947fm following rape allegations that were levelled against them.
