DJ Lamiez Holworthy Pledges Tombstone for 5-Year-Old Ditebogo, Shot and Killed in Car Hijacking
Lamiez Holworthy, a renowned South African DJ and media personality has expressed her heartfelt condolences and pledged to supply a tombstone for the late Ditebogo Junior Phalane’s family.
Five-year-old Ditebogo tragically lost his life during a car hijacking incident which happened on Friday, May 10 in Soshanguve, Tshwane.

A Gesture of Humanity and Love
Lamiez Holworthy emphasized that her act of providing a tombstone is not driven by publicity but by her deep empathy as a parent and her genuine care for others. In an interview with Daily Sun, she stated;
“I’m doing this out of humanity. I’m not doing this for publicity but as a parent and out of love.”
Standing in Solidarity with the Grieving Family
Lamiez Holworthy assured the Phalane family that they are not alone in their pain. She expressed her intention to stand by the family during this difficult time, offering support and solidarity.
Seeking Justice and Support from the Community
Ditebogo Junior was shot while coming out of the house to welcome his father, Ditebego Phalane. The father had been the victim of a car hijacking, where unknown assailants stole his white Hilux bakkie. The young boy was rushed to Botshilu Private Hospital but was tragically declared dead upon arrival.
Gauteng police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Mavela Masondo confirmed that the South African Police Service (SAPS) is actively searching for the suspects involved in the car hijacking and the murder of the five-year-old child. A case of murder and hijacking has been opened for investigation.
Meanwhile, the Phalane family’s spokesperson, Gift Makoti, a cousin of the late child, shared that the family is still grappling with immense sorrow.
They are awaiting the postmortem results to proceed with announcing memorial and burial dates. Makoti mentioned that numerous individuals, including political parties, have visited the family home to offer condolences.
