DJ Sumbody has filed Court papers against Nyovest for swindling him of R500k that was accrued through royalties from the two songs they did together Tseya Ukwe and Remote Control which are used on Nyovest’s Samsung advert.

According to Sumbody, he agreed with Cassper to compose two songs Tseya Ukwe and Remote Control.
The two songs were produced by Thabo Khanyile and Bass Qhawe Modlongwa. DJ Sumbody and the two producers were entitled to twenty-five percent of publishing rights to the song.

He also said the songwriters were also entitled to royalties after the song was registered with (Samro) South African Music Rights Organization and (Capasso) Composer Authors and Publishing Associations,(Sapra) South African Performance Rights Association.

Moreover, DJ Sumbody’s legal representative has since confirmed that the matter is now before the Court, however, according to the lawyer; the pair are still in good relations.
However, Nyovest has since rubbished the claims,

“Lol… Dj Sumbody is suing me? Unless there’s another Dj Sumbody? They can keep writing about me every week! It has never worked and it will never work! Keep typing ni@%#$ Type until your fingers are blue,” said Nyovest.

Last year, Sunday World revealed that the SA Revenue Service (Sars) filed Court papers against Nyovest’s company Family Tree Media for allegedly failing to settle R3.6 million for unpaid income tax.

According to documents seen by the publication, Nyovest’s company owed Sars R3, 076 140, 32 in income tax but the debt ballooned to R3, 690 570, 97 after they added penalties and interest as well as another amount the company allegedly owed for pay as you earn tax.

In July this year Sunday World also reported that Samro applied for an order to liquidate Cassper’s record label. This is after Cassper allegedly failed to pay them nearly half a million Rand in royalties for his show Fill Up the Dome because he was reportedly broke.
Nyovest recently talked about some of the scenarios listed above when he appeared on Somizi’s cooking show, Dinner At Somizi’s.
The rapper opened up about how it felt when he faced having his cars repossessed and his house auctioned. He told Somizi his biggest worry was making headlines and getting scrutinised by the court of public opinion.
