“As we process and mourn his death, we request your prayers, consideration, and space. We know Volo shared his life with many people: friends, supporters, and fans,” the family said.

They added that details of the memorial service and funeral would be announced once relatives had gathered and consulted those connected to his work.

A Source of Pride for the Eastern Cape

Metro FM award winner Betusile Mcinga paid tribute to Volo Da Saint, describing him as more than just a performer. In a Facebook post, he highlighted the DJ’s dedication to charity work and his impact across the Eastern Cape.

According to Mcinga, Volo Da Saint’s contributions extended far beyond the music scene, earning him respect and admiration from communities who benefitted from his initiatives.

A Visionary, Risk-Taker, and Trailblazer

Close friend DJ Mist SA reflected on Volo Da Saint’s legacy, calling him a visionary who lived “a full and purposeful life.”

You were an exceptional risk-taker. It is rare for anyone to invest so extensively in their rural community, given the risks and financial demands involved. But you were determined to put Bizana on the national map, and you succeeded,” he said.

He added that Volo Da Saint was the first to bring major artists such as AKA, Cassper Nyovest, Kabza De Small, DJ Maphorisa, and others to their area, creating more than 100 temporary jobs annually and boosting tourism.

“Your name will forever hold a prominent place in the historical records of both Bizana and the Eastern Cape,” DJ Mist SA said. “Beyond friendship, we shared immense respect for each other, both professionally and artistically.”

Legacy of the OR Tambo Homage Event

Volo Da Saint was the driving force behind the popular OR Tambo Homage Event held every December.
This year’s edition, scheduled for December 23, was set to feature Dlala Thukzin, Kelvin Momo, Dumi Mkokstad, Mafikizolo, and Naledi Aphiwe, among others.
