Dr. Thomas Chauke, now 78 years old, is celebrated for his unique blend of traditional Xitsonga music and the unmistakable sound of the electric guitar. Over the years, his wives became the core members of The Shinyori Sisters, bringing their harmonious voices and traditional dance to the forefront of his performances.

Initially, the group consisted of 13 members, but as time passed, Dr. Chauke focused on working exclusively with his wives, who shared his passion for music. Although he remarried for the fifth time, the relationship ended, and his current wives describe him as a strict yet compassionate partner.
Honouring a Remarkable Career
Dr. Chauke’s contributions to South African music and culture have earned him national recognition. In 2016, he was awarded the prestigious Order of Ikhamanga by former President Jacob Zuma for his outstanding achievements in arts, culture, literature, and music. Ethel played a significant role in his musical journey and was part of the celebrations marking this milestone in his career.
