An East London man has been arrested for the murder of his mother.
The 27-year-old is alleged to have stabbed his mother dead on her hospital bed during meal time.
“Police have arrested a 27-year-old suspect for alleged murder of his 59 year old mother who had been admitted in a chronic hospital in East London. It is alleged that on Sunday, 13 March 2016, at about 12:00, the son visited his mother in her hospital ward,” the SAPS said in a statement.
“The nurses are alleged to have discovered the lifeless body of the woman lying on her bed with stab wounds to the throat and stomach during feeding time.
“The suspect was found hidden inside the hospital toilet with a knife in his possession.”
The police revealed that the man will appear at the East London Magistrate’s Court soon facing a charge of murder.
