Tensions Within EFF Reach Boiling Point as Mbuyiseni Ndlozi Resigns

Mbuyiseni Ndlozi’s resignation marks the culmination of rising tensions within the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF). His departure follows a series of events, including being barred from attending the party’s elective conference in Johannesburg a month prior.

At the EFF’s third National People’s Assembly (NPA) in December, Ndlozi was notably absent. During the conference, party leader Julius Malema openly criticized Ndlozi, accusing him of egoism and ignorance, traits he deemed incompatible with leadership within the EFF. Malema also urged party members to treat Ndlozi as an ordinary member.

The situation was further exacerbated by the resignation of former deputy president Floyd Shivambu. Reports later surfaced that Ndlozi had known about Shivambu’s decision but failed to inform Malema or other senior officials, deepening the internal rift.
