Body Found Wrapped In Sheet
The woman was reportedly found partially undressed and wrapped in a sheet.
Acting Gauteng Police Commissioner Major-General Fred Kekana said preliminary indications were that the body had been dumped at the location.
Police have not yet publicly confirmed the woman’s identity or provided details about the circumstances surrounding her death.
Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi said the latest discovery would be incorporated into the wider investigation into the deaths of women across Ekurhuleni.
“The unidentified body was discovered earlier this morning, 17 September 2026. This brings the total number of bodies discovered to nine in two months.”
She said a multidisciplinary team had been assembled to work on the cases and identify those responsible.
Police Investigate Possible Links
The latest discovery comes as investigators examine whether some of the deaths are connected.
Police have deployed additional detectives, intelligence officers and forensic specialists, while a person of interest is also being pursued. One suspect linked to the first case remains in custody. However, authorities have cautioned against drawing conclusions about a single perpetrator before the investigations establish the links between the cases.
The nine bodies have been discovered in different parts of Ekurhuleni, including Kempton Park, Olifantsfontein, KwaThema and Dawn Park.
One Of The Victims Identified
Meanwhile, the family of 38-year-old Dineo Evelyn Motapane has identified her as the woman whose body was found in KwaThema, Springs.
Her relatives positively identified her at the Springs Mortuary on Wednesday afternoon, a day after her body was discovered.
According to police and her family, Motapane was last seen alive on Sunday. Her relatives had not reported her missing by the time her body was found.
