Emtee Granted Bail After Night in Police Custody Over Protection Order Allegations
South African rapper Emtee has been released on bail after spending a night in police custody in connection with allegations that he breached a protection order obtained by his estranged wife.
The award-winning musician, born Mthebeni Ndevu, appeared before the Midrand Magistrate’s Court on Thursday after reportedly surrendering himself to authorities a day earlier.

Court Appearance Follows Police Detention
According to reports, the rapper spent Wednesday night at Midrand Police Station before being brought before the court.
He was subsequently granted bail of R1 000 while legal proceedings continue.
The case centres on claims that Emtee violated a protection order that was granted to his estranged wife, Nicole Chinsamy, in 2023.
Strict Bail Conditions Imposed
As part of his release conditions, the musician has reportedly been barred from making any direct or indirect social media posts about Chinsamy.
He has also been instructed not to contact her and to remove any existing online content relating to her.
The restrictions come amid an ongoing public dispute between the former couple that has increasingly played out on social media platforms.
Social Media Allegations Spark Attention
The court appearance follows a series of posts shared by Emtee in which he made allegations against Chinsamy.
In messages published on Instagram, the rapper claimed he had been physically assaulted on multiple occasions during their relationship.
He also alleged that his estranged wife wanted to harm him, stating that he required assistance, though not financial support.

The latest developments add another chapter to the highly publicised breakdown of the couple’s relationship, which has attracted significant public attention in recent years.
No findings have been made by the court regarding the allegations exchanged between the two parties, and the matter remains before the legal system.
