Once a celebrated street-style dancer who gained fame through viral social media videos, Mashambula has been arrested after he was involved in a jewellery store robbery. The former rising star was among several individuals apprehended by Honeydew Police after an attempted jewellery store robbery at Clearwater Mall yesterday.
Mashambula, alongside his accomplices, attempted to rob a high-end jewellery store in Clearwater Mall. Armed and determined, the group aimed to flee with valuable items such as rings, watches, necklaces, and other costly accessories. However, their plan was quickly foiled.
One of the mall’s store employees described the terrifying ordeal:
As soon as we noticed armed men entering the mall, we locked ourselves inside our shop. We heard glass shattering, people screaming, and running in panic. When we looked outside, we saw the men grabbing almost everything in sight at the jewellery store. It all happened so quickly, but it felt like they were in the store for an eternity. We immediately contacted mall security

Swift Police Response
A video that has since circulated widely on social media shows the robbers grabbing jewellery and breaking a window to reach the store’s merchandise. The group’s attempt to escape was cut short when police, already on their trail, arrested them. Among the suspects was Mashambula, who was once recognized for his dancing prowess but is now making headlines for his involvement in crime.
South Africa’s Minister of Police, Senzo Mchunu, praised the combined efforts of the Gauteng Provincial Commissioner, South African Police Service (SAPS), Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department, and private security teams for their prompt and coordinated response.

The rapid action of law enforcement led to the successful arrest of seven suspects following the robbery
During the arrest, police also recovered four firearms, which had been used during the robbery.
