In the latest chapter of their ongoing saga, Monique Muller, the ex-girlfriend and baby mama of Katlego Maboe, has ignited a fresh controversy by publicly accusing the ‘Deal or No Deal’ presenter of neglecting his responsibility to contribute towards their son’s school fees. The social media outburst has shed light on what Muller refers to as “economic abuse” within their strained relationship.
Financial Feud Unfolds Amidst a History of Turmoil
The couple’s tumultuous history has been a subject of public interest, marred by allegations of domestic abuse, infidelity, and even an STI transmission.
In 2020, Monique sought and obtained a protection order against Katlego, alleging domestic abuse, but in February 2022, he was acquitted of these charges due to lack of substantiating evidence.
Monique Puts Katlego on a Blast
Monique took to Instagram and slammed Katlego for refusing to pay their son’s school fees. Monique expressed her frustration at celebrities who, in her words, “plead poverty” when it comes to their children’s needs. She provocatively questioned,
“Are there any other 6-figure earning fathers refusing to pay their kids school fees? “It really be the celebs y’all fight for… that pleads poverty when it comes to taking care of their kids. And literally willing to let their child go without education. But plays ‘Father of the Year’”.
As if that wasn’t enough, she humorously suggested that the show “Deal or No Deal” could perhaps contribute to the unpaid fees.
Maybe Deal or No Deal can donate some funds there. I can forward the school’s banking details. Or are his fans willing to donate?”.
Contentions Over Contributions
Digging deeper into the matter, Monique detailed that Katlego had insisted on their son attending a prestigious private school in Cape Town.
However, she asserted that he wanted her to foot half of the bill, a burden she claimed she couldn’t manage. Monique pointed out the stark income difference between the two and argued that paying the fees in full should be well within Katlego’s means.
