Floyd Shivambu has officially announced that his new political party, the Africa Mayibuye Movement (AMM), has concluded its interim phase. The party has announced the formal adoption of its draft constitution, a move that effectively restructures its entire organisational hierarchy ahead of a future national convention. This rapid development signals a determined push to establish a fully operational party machinery.

The constitutional shift has prompted an immediate change in titles for its key personnel. All interim conveners and coordinators who were operating across the country have now been formally elevated to the roles of provincial chairpersons and secretaries. At the very apex of the party, the position of national coordinator has been abolished, making way for a more traditional secretary-general role, underscoring a move towards established political structures.

Central to the party’s new identity is its officially unveiled logo, which Shivambu explains is laden with profound meaning. The design features three bold horizontal stripes: black on top, green in the middle, and red at the bottom. At its heart sits the distinct Mayibuye logo. Shivambu stated,

“The logo is designed to represent the movement’s vision in its entirety, a visual embodiment of our principles and our fight for the continent.”

Beyond its own unique emblem, the movement has consciously chosen to align itself with a powerful historical standard. Shivambu confirmed that the party fully embraces the universal Pan-African flag, with its iconic tricolour of red, black, and green. He elaborated on the weight of this choice, noting,

“These are the historic colours first popularised in 1920 by the visionary Marcus Garvey as the black liberation flag. They are not merely colours; they symbolise African identity, unity, and the enduring struggle for freedom across the globe.”

This deliberate adoption roots the new party in a rich tradition of African liberation and solidarity, connecting its modern political ambitions to a century-old fight for empowerment.
