In a shocking incident that has sent shockwaves through the community of Mahlongwa in Scottburgh, KwaZulu-Natal, a 19-year-old man, Skhumbuzo Mbambo killed his 23-year-old sister, Ntombenhle Mbambo.

The gruesome event unfolded in broad daylight, right in front of their mother, Lindiwe Mbambo, on a fateful Saturday morning.
According to Lindiwe, she awoke to the harrowing sight of her son, Skhumbuzo, brutally assaulting her daughter, Ntombenhle. Skhumbuzo’s rage reportedly stemmed from the revelation that Ntombenhle had been involved with one of his close friends three weeks prior. Lindiwe pleaded with her son to stop, but he was relentless in his attack, leaving Ntombenhle grievously injured.
Why he was beating his sister, Skhumbuzo told me that he was angry at her sister because Ntombenhle slept with his friend three weeks ago. He told us not to interfere as he wanted to teach her sister not to sleep with his friends,” she told the paper.

Forcing His Parents to Bury the Deceased
In a horrifying turn of events, Skhumbuzo then forced his parents to bury Ntombenhle the very same day, threatening violence against the family if they dared to intervene.
Lindiwe recounted her daughter’s last moments to Zimoja, revealing that Ntombenhle died in her arms.
I will never forget the pain Skhumbuzo put me through. He beat my daughter until she was unable to run for her life. When he was done with her, she came into my bedroom and asked me to put her to bed. She was breathing heavily. What hurts the most is that she died in my arms,” said Mbambo.
Skhumbuzo’s cruel demand to bury his sister under the cover of darkness only heightened suspicions among neighbours, who eventually alerted the authorities.
Skhumbuzo Mbambo has since been arrested and is now facing charges of murder. The shocking incident has exposed a tragic family dispute and shed light on allegations of abuse within the household, with Skhumbuzo reportedly pressuring his parents for financial support to sustain his drug and alcohol habits.
KwaZulu-Natal SAPS spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Nqobile Gwala confirmed Skhumbuzo’s arrest and his subsequent appearance before the Scottburgh Magistrates Court.
