Jacques Pretorius, a 54-year-old former senior official at Absa Bank, was taken into custody in March 2025 regarding the suspicious death of his 40-year-old spouse, Sheri-Ann Pretorius. The tragic incident occurred four years prior at the couple’s Somerset West home in Cape Town’s affluent suburbs.
What authorities initially classified as a self-inflicted death in 2021 has now been re-examined following an extensive forensic review. Law enforcement officials revealed that new evidence prompted them to reclassify the case as a homicide investigation, leading to Pretorius’s subsequent arrest.
