Former Generations Actor Thabiso Mokhethi Opens Up About Going Broke After Losing Acting Job

Former Generations and Rhythm City actor Thabiso Mokhethi has candidly opened up about his financial and emotional downfall after losing his job on the small screen.

The actor, once a familiar face in South African households, shared how he spiraled into hardship, unable to afford even basic necessities like food or transport.

“I Couldn’t Afford Food or an Uber”- Thabiso Mokhethi Reveals

Speaking on the popular YouTube podcast Engineer Your Life, Thabiso revealed how the end of his TV career pushed him into a life he was unprepared for.

“There were times when, as an unemployed man, I couldn’t even afford an Uber. Sometimes, I didn’t have food to eat,” he said.

He explained how losing his income led to a drastic lifestyle change, triggering not just financial hardship but also an identity crisis.

When I lost all my material wealth, I felt like I had lost myself.”

From Breadwinner to Burden

Thabiso also shared how emotionally jarring it was to transition from being a provider to someone who had to rely on others for support.

“Coming from a position where I could provide for my family, to suddenly relying on others was a bitter pill to swallow. I know this is a reality for many people, but this is my story,” he explained.

The actor said his journey has taught him valuable lessons about humility, resilience, and the unpredictable nature of fame and fortune.
