Four Actors Who Were Dismissed From The River
Four actors were reportedly fired the telescopes The River.
Here is the list:
Motshidi Motshekgwa who played the role of Malefu Mokoena got axed from the show because she was difficult to work with because she wanted to play her character ‘her’ way.
Not only did she make her on-screen daughter’s (Tumi Mokoena) life on-set difficult but she made the producer’s and the writer’s life hell.
She reportedly didn’t like some of the settings her character had to go through so she butted heads with The River’s co-creator; Gywdion a lot.
For instance after her on-screen husband (Thato Mokoena) was killed she didn’t want to date right away again.
She was not comfortable with the way they portrayed her character as another needy and desperate black widow that would stoop so low and date any Tom, Dick, and Harry that asked her out.
She also didn’t approve of Tumi (played by Larona Moagi) acting and often made her cry on set.
So, when season two came, they didn’t tell her face to face that she’s fired. Instead, they apparently renewed all the actors’ contracts on the show except hers.
Everyone went home for Christmas and when they started shooting for season two in the New Year, they apparently just told her that they don’t have any more lines for her character on the phone.ski
Everyone went home for Christmas and when they started shooting for season two in the New Year,
Jet played; Walter who was Malefu’s on-screen lover and was killed from the show because of Malefu played by Motshidi Motshekgwa. Motshekgwa apparently cost Jet’s job on the show because of her neediness, nagging and constant bickering with producers and other actors on the show. They killed his character because Malefu didn’t find him to be a suitable man for her. They tried to match him with Flora but didn’t find the storyline as enticing with Flora and had no choice but to kill him and Malefu too.
Mbali’s role was never supposed to last because of Larona’s character; Tumi. Once Tumi and Lindiwe were to reconcile as mother and daughter, then there was no need for Lindiwe to have a second daughter. Mbali was sacrificed so that Tumi and Lindiwe could bond like mother and daughter. Lindiwe would’ve never loved and needed Tumi a hundred percent if she still had another daughter.
They terminated her contract because her character was no longer necessary on the show.
Nqobe played the role of a criminal-mastermind; Percy in season one to three of The River. He was Cobra’s closest friend and even attended his wedding as his best man. Nqobe was nominated for the best supporting actor which was won by his co-star; Lawrence Maleka who plays the role of Zolani.
The former Rhythm City actor was apparently fired on The River as on Rhythm City because he’s apparently unreliable.
