Four Women Found Dead In Kempton Park As Search For Missing Gauteng Woman Intensifies

The disappearance of a 38-year-old woman in Kempton Park has taken on a more serious dimension after police linked the case to a broader investigation into the deaths of four women whose bodies have been found in the area over the past two months.

Elizabeth Moselakgomo, also known as “Tsontso”, disappeared on Wednesday after leaving her Rhodesfield home for an afternoon jog. She was last seen on Mustang Street.

According to SABC News, an unidentified woman was found dead in the York Street area on Saturday night, but authorities have not confirmed whether the body is that of Moselakgomo.

Family Unable To Identify Latest Body

Moselakgomo’s relatives went to the scene after learning that a woman’s body had been discovered, hoping it would help establish what had happened to her.

However, they were unable to make an identification because of the injuries sustained by the deceased woman and the late hour.

The body was subsequently taken to a state mortuary, where the family is expected to make a formal identification.

Police Investigate Possible Links

The latest discovery has prompted detectives to examine the circumstances surrounding the deaths of four women found in Kempton Park over a two-month period.

A multidisciplinary team is now reviewing the cases to determine whether there are connections between them.

Police are also investigating whether the women were killed in Kempton Park or whether they were murdered elsewhere before their bodies were dumped in the area.

Authorities have not ruled out the possibility that more than one person could be responsible.

SAPS Issues Warning To Women

The South African Police Service (SAPS) has urged women in Kempton Park, particularly those in Rhodesfield, to exercise extreme caution while investigations continue.

Police spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe said detectives had identified similarities in the circumstances surrounding the deaths.

“The bodies of the women were found half-naked and with visible bruising, and the discovery sites are located within the same vicinity,” Mathe said.

The latest body was discovered on Saturday, September 12.

Police Yet To Confirm Serial Killer Link

Despite the similarities, SAPS stressed that it has not confirmed that a serial killer is responsible for the deaths.

Mathe said the similarities were nevertheless serious enough to warrant a public warning and a more intensive investigation.

“While investigations are still underway and SAPS has not, at this stage, confirmed that the deaths are linked to a serial killer, the similarities are sufficiently concerning for the police to issue a public warning and intensify investigations,” she said.

The investigation remains ongoing, with authorities working to establish the identity of the latest victim and determine whether the four deaths are connected.
