Details of the Abuse Allegations
Ndikhona Hlatika, Kwinana’s ex-wife, officially reported the assaults to authorities after securing a protection order in January 2024. Court documents reveal disturbing claims of violence occurring throughout their marriage, including an alleged attack while Hlatika was three months pregnant.
“The abuse began in 2021,” Hlatika stated in her sworn affidavit. “I’ll never forget being struck while carrying our child. The pattern continued until I finally sought refuge at a shelter.”

Pattern of Alleged Abuse
According to legal filings, the gospel artist reportedly physically assaulted his pregnant wife on multiple occasions, spit in her face during arguments, destroyed her personal property and subjected her to verbal and psychological abuse
Hlatika described living in constant fear, stating: “After violent outbursts, he would act as if nothing happened. His apologies meant nothing when the behaviour kept repeating.”
Legal Proceedings and Arrest
With assistance from Malihambe Women Outreach, a local anti-GBV organization, Hlatika formally pressed charges earlier this month. Kwinana surrendered to authorities through his legal representatives and was subsequently released on bail after a court appearance.
Nosipho Daniels of Malihambe Women Outreach confirmed their organization supported Hlatika through the legal process. “We ensured this case received proper attention from law enforcement,” Daniels stated.
Kwinana’s Response to Allegations
The Spirit of Praise ensemble member has denied all accusations through social media posts, claiming Hlatika’s visible injuries resulted from a vehicular accident rather than domestic violence. These statements contradict the detailed accounts in official court documents.
