Mutilated Body of 14-Year-Old Missing Girl Discovered in Roodepoort Veld
The body of missing 14-year-old Likhona Fose was discovered on Monday morning in a veld in Durban Deep, Roodepoort, sparking fresh outrage over the ongoing crisis of gender-based violence and femicide in South Africa.
Shocking Discovery by Passerby
According to reports, the teenager’s mutilated body was found by a passerby, who immediately alerted the police. The horrific nature of the discovery has sent shockwaves through the local community.
Police have confirmed they are investigating the possibility that the young girl may have been the victim of a homophobic hate crime, or that her body was targeted for ritualistic purposes involving the removal of body parts for muti.

MEC Speaks Out
According to Kaya595, Gauteng Education MEC Matome Chiloane expressed both heartbreak and outrage at the loss of the teenager, describing the manner of her death as “unacceptable.”
“We are deeply disheartened by the loss of Likhona, and the brutal manner in which her life was taken is unacceptable,” Chiloane said.
He also extended condolences to Likhona’s family and called for justice to be swiftly served.
Tragedy Follows Recent GBVF Case
The death of Likhona Fose comes shortly after the tragic murder of 30-year-old journalism student Olorato Mongale.
The two brutal killings, occurring within a short time of each other, have once again highlighted the persistent scourge of Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF) in South Africa.

Authorities are appealing to the public to come forward with any information that could aid in the investigation. Members of the community who may have seen or heard anything suspicious are urged to contact their nearest police station or call Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
