Early Life

Born in Tshiawelo Soweto, Gauteng, South Africa, Hulisani Ravele is the youngest of three children. Her father, Mr. Ravele, instilled in her the value of pursuing one’s passions, greatly influencing her career choices. Tragically, her father passed away in 2014 after an accident. Ravele credits her mother as her role model, from whom she learned important life virtues such as perseverance, hard work, and humility. As she grew up, her confidence blossomed, and she developed a strong affinity for television.

Education

Ravele received her primary and secondary education in Johannesburg, Gauteng. After completing her matriculation, she pursued a BCom in Marketing Management at the University of Johannesburg, graduating in 2008. Seeking to expand her creative horizons, she enrolled in a Bachelor of Arts in Motion Picture Medium at AFDA Media School, from which she graduated in 2017.

Television

Ravele’s journey into television commenced at the tender age of nine when she made her debut on the SABC1 show “Pula & Friends.” At the age of eleven, she joined the SABC1 daily youth programming block YOTV as a presenter, solidifying her presence as a YOTV presenter for eight years. This engagement cemented her status as a viewer favourite due to her charismatic on-screen presence. She also contributed her talents to various other media companies, hosting the Sunday night show “My House” on 5FM and presenting the SABC1 game show “Quiz Me” for thirteen episodes. Her extensive career includes hosting the 947 Weekend Breakfast on Saturdays and Sundays from 7-10 a.m. She has over twenty-five years of television experience, demonstrating her proficiency in live and pre-recorded formats. Ravele was also a part of the SABC1 and SABC2 music talk show “Zaziwa.”

Acting

In addition to her hosting career, Hulisani Ravele ventured into acting and appeared in the first season of the SABC1 comedy series “City Ses’la” as the character Thandi.

In 2021, Ravele introduced her new boyfriend, Kevin Costner, via Instagram.
