I Am Not A Celebrity Sangoma: Skeem Saam’s Celia Kunutu
Most of us have known her as Celia Kunutu on Skeem Saam and the more we see her on our small screens, the more our love for her grows.
Her real name is Shoki Mmola and she currently plays the role of Celia Kunutu in SABC 1’s educational soapie; Skeem Saam and she denies that she’s a celebrity sangoma.
The actress who’s a sangoma is also a casting director and fashion designer. Mmola who is particularly famed for her role as Grace Lerothodi in the SABC1 drama; Death of a Queen revealed
“I am not a celebrity sangoma because I didn’t answer my calling out of it being a fashion trend.”
Mmola delightfully further revealed in an interview last year that she just graduated as a registered traditional healer, which means that she can now issue sick notes to those she consults.
“I’m practising full-time and I have qualified to give people sick notes. Anyone that comes to me I am registered as a traditional healer. It was quite an achievement.”
She started practicing as a sangoma after her divorce, from her allegedly abusive ex-husband; actor Sello Sebotsane.
She is the first to point out that her work as a sangoma has no working hours but assures that she manages just fine despite her demanding job and being a single mom.
Mmola is one of the most educated actors in Mzansi. The actress enrolled at the Tampere University of Technology in Finland studying Fashion Designing, specializing in corseted garments, and later graduated from Tshwane University of Technology where she earned a degree in Drama performing arts.
